DREAMS THAT HAVEN'T HAPPENED YET
Greenpoint Gallery, April 2026
Dreams That Haven’t Happened Yet explores a relationship between memory and physical media. Drawing inspiration from close personal relationships, lived experiences, and a deep-rooted connection to the act of creation, the work reflects a process that is both introspective and deeply personal.
Drawn to the intersection of memory, femininity, and imagination, Ayla’s work often begins through personal narrative. Each image becomes a space where curiosity and emotion converge, inviting viewers into moments that feel both intimate and unfamiliar.
Through a combination of photography and mixed media, Ayla constructs a visual language that blurs the line between tangible and imagined by using both archival and original imagery. The series as a whole asks: at what point does a memory begin? The pieces move between past and present, reality and imagination, coming together as a series of moments that feel open ended rather than fixed.
